For setting up the Roland CX-24, follow the instructions that came with the machine. There are 2 important points we would like to add:
Do not use the Windows driver that came with the plotter. We recommend a Sign software such as SignLab or FlexiSign. In SignLab, if you are outputting by clicking File>Print, then you are doing it wrong (and using the windows driver). You should click on the scissors, or on CUT>PLOT.
If you are rotating the job on the screen in order to plot longer than 24", then you are doing it wrong. The software will tile the image, because the driver is set up for 24" wide media, and rotating it makes it 24" long, and then needs to tile.
The plotter, by default, is set up to run jobs from left to right.
Most software expects plotters to run jobs the length of the material.
To change this, load the machine with material, and press the menu button twice. Rotate the dial until the display says " ROTATE". By default it says "OFF". We need to change this to say "ON". Press the menu button, and rotate the dial until it says "ON", and press enter. Press the Menu button and exit.
If your job is such that you wish to have the graphic plot from left to right, then do it in the software. In SignLab, CUT>PLOT> then check the AXIS SWAP button.
