Roland’s 104” Advanced JET AJ-1000 was built for speed. In fact, this unique class of grand-format printer represents the company’s fastest model yet. With a blinding maximum print speed of 968 sqft./hr. and a precision print mode of 484 sqft./hr., the AJ-1000 creates banners, billboards, vehicle graphics and more in no time. The AJ-1000 offers a maximum print resolution of 720x720 dpi at 129 sqft./hr. in high quality mode.

Durable Eco-Xtreme Solvent Ink
Eco-Xtreme solvent ink was developed for industrial-strength performance. It comes in 6 vivid colors (CMYK+LcLm) for exceptional gamut, high color density and unmatched durability, even in high-speed modes. Eco-Xtreme ink performs across a wide range of coated and uncoated media. Its rugged scratch, alcohol, water and UV resistance delivers vibrant prints that last up to 3 years outdoors.
Optional Mesh Printing Unit

The AJ-1000 can be enhanced with an optional Mesh Printing Unit which allows direct printing onto unlined mesh, a tightly woven, lightweight perforated media that adds style, texture and durability to virtually any AJ-1000 graphic.

Mesh is ideal for outdoor graphics that may be exposed to excessive wind or any application calling for the unique sheer look of mesh. Among its many advantages, mesh eliminates the need to cut wind holes. Mesh media images well with Eco-Xtreme ink, is ideal for exterior graphics, and often features flame-retardant and tear-resistant properties.

The AJ-1000 Mesh Printing Unit attaches and detaches easily from the AJ-1000 and features a built-in drainage system for easy removal of excess ink. Support for unlined media makes it highly economical to produce mesh graphics with the AJ-1000.

High-Capacity Ink Delivery System
With the AJ-1000, you can go the distance. Its high-capacity 1 liter ink cartridges ensure seamless unattended printing, and an advanced ink delivery system allows replacement of cartridges without pausing.
Advanced Tri-Heater and Blower System
The AJ-1000 features an integrated tri-heater system and blower that make both high speed printing and take-up possible. The heating system consists of three elements. A pre-heater opens pores in the media to improve its receptiveness. The print heater accelerates ink fastness and brightness by ensuring the ink is absorbed. Finally, the dryer and blower accelerate ink drying for better productivity, workability and scratch resistance.
Automated Media Feed and Take Up System
The AJ-1000 includes an automated media feed and take-up system for precision high-volume printing, even when unattended. This pre-assembled unit includes front-mounted feed and take-up rollers and a dual idler roller system that together ensure correct media feeding. The system supports rolls weighing up to 220 lbs. and offers front access for convenient loading and unloading.
Network Connection
Equipped with a standard 100 BASE-TX/10 BASE-T interface, the AJ-1000 connects seamlessly to office networks with a data transmission rate of 1.1 Mb/sec. This makes it easy to configure a highly efficient printing environment.
VersaWorks RIP Software

VersaWorks is powerful RIP software developed by Roland engineers for the company’s inkjet technology. Built upon the genuine Adobe ® PostScript ® CPSI ™ RIP engine, VersaWorks features an efficient graphical user interface that allows users to maximize their Roland inkjet without a lengthy learning curve.


VersaWorks is packed with features including Roland Color, Roland’s exclusive spot color fidelity system, Variable Data Printing, and a wide variety of convenient layout, edit and print functions such as nesting, tiling and auto/manual-layout.


VersaWorks also offers the ability to preview jobs on screen, reducing ink and media consumption due to mistakes. Users can use two job queues for handling different print conditions and can automatically update VersaWorks through the Internet, ensuring that they always have the latest software version and Roland DGA ICC profiles available. VersaWorks is compatible with Windows 2000/XP operating systems.
